Meet sisters Susi and Jenny, owners of Sydney-based bridal and eveningwear fabric store Saigon Fabrics. Named for their birthplace in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam, the boutique was taken over by the duo from their parents. Having grown up in Australia in the presence of luxurious and intricate fabrics and laces, Susi and Jenny developed a deep passion for exquisite and delicate textiles. Since taking over as adults, the niche business has evolved into a prominent company within the fashion industry, specialising in exclusive imported fabrics for bridal and formal wear.
“All of our staff come from fashion and design backgrounds,” Jenny says. “We are always happy to assist you in designing your dream gown. We also have a directory of designers and dressmakers around Australia who can create your gown using our beautiful fabrics.”
Some of these designers include the talented Daniel Learmont Couture, Ervan Woo and Rhonda Hemmingway Couture. For brides wanting to create their own unique gown, Saigon Fabrics is the place to turn to, with a focus on “the individual bride and her inspiration to help create the dream dress”.
One of Saigon Fabrics’ most notable qualities is its extensive collection of luxury fabrics, including French laces, embroideries, brocades and plain silks, with the company boasting the biggest fabric collection in Australia. “The haute couture houses of Paris are one of our biggest inspirations,” Jenny says. “We travel internationally every year and hand-pick the latest and most up-to-date fashion items from across the globe and bring the most exquisite pieces back for Australia’s brides.”
