Bianca and David: Sandstone Splendour

It’s early morning and Bianca and David are standing on top of Machu Picchu, a breathtaking view of the mountains before them. Mesmerised by the scene, Bianca takes photos. As she turns around, she spots David bent down on one knee. Silence, shock and excitement fill the air. “Well,” David says. Knowing what this means, Bianca responds with the three-letter word to the silent question.
“We met at an underage night club when we were 15 years old,” Bianca says. Before getting engaged, the couple were “together for 10 very short, exhilarating and fun years.” Picking a theme for the wedding was easy, as they both wanted something by the water. So Bradleys Head Amphitheatre was the place. “I decided to tie everything in with the sandstone at Bradleys Head,” Bianca explains. “We had sandstone tiles on tables with candles made by David’s mum, Cath.”
It took a year and a half to plan the special day. “Between completing my PhD, our two jobs, two renovations and moves, it was exhausting!” Bianca says. The challenges, however, were outweighed by her bridal gown fitting. Bianca was confident choosing Sydney-based fashion designer Ziolkowski. “At every fitting, I felt incredible. Celyna understood exactly what I was after. The dress was based on her Dahlia design and was a long-sleeve, floor-length, white, corded-lace gown with a train and narrow mermaid silhouette.”
In the end, all the hard work had paid off. “We were on such a high that we couldn’t stop smiling.” Not wanting their adventure to end, the high school sweethearts continued it by honeymooning and travelling for three months in Europe.
